ahahahahahahaha children

I'm getting a haircut today.  And a mandolin.  I'm super excited.  The mandolin is my Christmas present but I'm the only person in my family that knows anything about stringed instruments and since we ordered it online, we only have three days to tell the people if we're sending it back or not.  So I get to go look it over (sister ordered it since my brother got the rest of us banned from eBay) and make sure it's not crappy.  I mean, I'm no expert on mandolins, but I can tell if the action or intonation sucks.  After I look it over, I'll get to take it back home, but I don't know if my mom will take it until Christmas or not.  It seems kind of pointless to wrap it after I've already seen it and played it, but whatever.  It's only like three days anyway.

If ever you're confronted by a man bearing chestnuts
Run away as fast as you can
For he thinks chestnuts really are the best nuts
But I'm here to tell you they're pecans

Well, I haven't posted here in a while, mainly because nobody comments so I can only assume that nobody reads it, but I have nothing better to do right now.

Last week was like n00b band camp or something and since all my friends are awesome and are section leaders, I had nothing to do all week.  And the band went to DC today.  My parents also left and won't be back until Friday.  And my mom forgot to find somebody to help with the pre-school Sunday school class so I had to do it.  So now it's 11:30, I'm not asleep and I'm really bored.  My brother came home from wherever he was last night and is currently either asleep or dead.  I'm not going to make any assumptions, but I want him to leave so I can make some noise.

Destiny's Breakfast did okay at Montreat.  We got a lot of compliments, especially on Bohemian Rhapsody, but I'm not so sure it was our best performance.  The bass ran through Jordan's amp, though the line out on the amp, and into their sound system.  Since it was a line out and not an extension speaker out, nothing came from the amp.  The speakers pumping out the bass were in front and above us, pointing towards the audience.  I'm sure the balance was great for them, but none of us could hear me at all.  That's not good because A.) The bass is the backbone of the song and sets the tempo for each new part.  They had to wait until they didn't play and listen very carefully to hear me.  And then I had to listen and follow them since there was no way they could hear me.  But we pretty much kept together B.) I'm not a bass player and I'm really not used to the high action on Jordan's bass.  I know I was hitting the notes in time, but I'm not sure if I was getting any fret buzz or not.  Usually I listen and can hear if I'm buzzing a lot and fix it.  Oh well.  Either way, it's not the end of the world.

Well, I'm going to see if there's anything on TV.  Heh, TV: The Last Resort.

So Andrew, Jordan and I have (at least temporarily) formed a musical group called Destiny's Breakfast.  We are currently writing our first song, Fiery Bandages.  Instrumental.  I talked to Jordan about making it a permanent group, maybe like a mini jazz band.  That means we would find at least a guitar player and maybe a drummer...  Maybe the guitar player could sing on some songs.  Maybe it would end up like a ska band.  I'll have to talk to Andrew, too.  It started out as a one-song thing to play at a talent show this summer, but it could end up being really cool.
